Daph’s A Beaut Sheila

Daph had to take a break today, her
knees, well her right knee anyway, wasn’t
too good. She’s just had surgery, showed
us the stiches at 4.30am when we arrived.

Okay, I’d made a tit of myself and asked
how her hip was when I got out of the ute,
had this mental picture of the surgeon’s
knife again last weekend – nearly right,

but she took it lightly, explained it wasn’t
the sort of surgery which had you buggered
for weeks. Nonetheless I thought, what
the Hell’s she doing here? Clem agreed.

He’d been anti the idea all along but didn’t
get a say. So Daph ruled the roost and
was out to play at their Sunday Market stall
until things seized up solid. As they must.

She’s had a hip done just a few months
back; insult to injury I reckon, and she’s
got Christmas day with the family tomorrow.
Damn fine state of affairs. But she’ll cope.
Daph’s a beaut Sheila – as if you didn’t know…
