Their Dog

Remind me again,
their dog killed
our hens,
their dog terrorised
the neighbour’s kids,
their dog chased
cars relentlessly,
their dog bit the postie
on the bum – considered
one bite too many by
some Counsellors,
and their dog paid
the ineffable price.

Was it for being
a bad dog
or for them being
lousy owners?
Hell, they still prowl
around unregistered
and unrestrained.
