Three words or less

If it can be said
in three words
or less, she
explained, say it,
otherwise
remain hushed.
You’re forever
making long-winded
dissertations,
prefaced with
I and ending in We,
numbing my ears
needlessly.

He was
dumfounded,
the profound
affirmations
and earnest
declarations
of his deep,
enduring love
had been
dismissed
as rambling,
and discursive
shit.

Three words or less!
The best he could
come up with was
a terse:
“I’m leaving you!”

That’s four she said.

  1. I love this!

My only problem is my net-nanny or whatever won't let me see the last word on the line ending with "and discursive ___". Can you give me a hint that won't get ####'d? (stupid net-nanny)

    Enjoying your site!

  2. Alice, in case the comment on your blog is still ####, the word starts with "sh", ends in "t" with an "i" in the middle. Ivan
