The news today imbues me with content
Labour leads the Liberals at 62%.
Maintain this pleasing pace they must with
patience and suspense ‘til little Johnny fades
or falls and calls elections for the nonce.
Correct me if you must, our government isn’t just
a clique of Liberal elite but bi-lateral trust between
the Nationals and their Liberal Peers ensconced
in weak co-habitation – while Johnny runs the
shop the Nationals show a warped appreciation.
Make no mistake, the Liberals cut and share the
fiscal cake; Nationals, so they say, prefer to eat the
grass they grow – while in the streets the voters show
their weary thanks in diverse ways, but none, per se,
are wont to keep our ‘Honest’ Johnny on.
So Johnny’s gone; the rising smell of rank deceit so well
concealed disdains, permeates the party planks – the
banks again will hike their interest rates, the knives will
flash and take a slice of steak of some ambitious
skunk who’s slunk behind the leader’s chair.
But no-one cares. It’s just another
bloody day in politics.
