Perfect Past (rev)

Formerly: A Past You Can’t Reclaim

you’ve had
the lines aching
like wisps of want
waiting in the corners
of your conscious mind
for days

lissom lines that sway
with rhythms poignantly
melodic lines a-play
in echoes of
a half-remembered
never quite forgot
coda to a past
you’ve not
replayed enough
to succour
satisfaction

time to
write them down
has come and
gone again

they linger on
languishing
fragments of
a fascinating realm
that’s lost
a perfect past
you can’t regain
