Whose Truth

whose truth

am I old enough?
honestly I don’t know
truth to me is an
inescapable succession
of facts

I don’t have to like it
may not want it to be true
but
the facts
remain

if whatever else I believe
is under attack
I am not ameliorated a bit
by being older
– and that sucks...

    Hi Ivan,

Seeing it's my birthday today, this caught my eye. Nice poem. It doesn't all suck..I feel I'm in a better place by being older. However; do you always get up and write at 4:00am? (lol)
    now that sucks!
    but I know the feeling.

  2. Bessye, I'd better scotch the rumour about 4am. I actually schedule publication each day (if I remember) at that time. Most of the poems were written years ago - or if not, at times more in keeping with creativity...

Well, I look at truth a bit like health, it's something we constantly have to work at everyday. Once we stop working at it, we lose it. Not to say we ever quite get it (a scary thought indeed), but I do think we can work towards it. And here age up to a point probably is a benefit.

  4. Thanks Matt, the distance between what we believe is true and what is truth should diminish over time I believe. I haven't seen much sign of it yet but I'm still hoping!

Hello Ivan, from a fellow SE Qlder. That is a very cool poem and I loved the chicken one below too. The internet is so vast it is a relief to find geographical proximity at times.

  6. I admit I had to look up ameliorated - but hey, not only did I love your poem, you taught me a new word too! And all with just one click.
