Silence Blest

silence blessed

It wasn’t just the things you said;
for sure, they were enough to earn
a roar of righteous discontent – and
there’s the irony, it meant the barbs
impacted gentle flesh and bled with
agonies you saw no valid reason for:
now you’re sore of heart and soul,
disgraced before apologies arraign

It’s worse if words were left unsaid
that could explain why foolishness
expressed itself at such a toll; to fail
a silence blest apology attests a case
wherein ‘I’m Sorry’ read aloud
forestalls the wearing of a veil
