Aided Hearing



Whether imagining things I’m hearing so
realistically it’s difficult to discriminate, or
hearing things too imaginatively, I am still
some distance from the gate I’d rather be
attending; long-standing hearing-loss now
compensated means more to attend than
just the meanings of sounds implied by a
pin’s causal dropping


It wasn’t deafness really – more out-of-a
barrel reactions which spaced themselves
less lucky-dip penalties; the cost came as
a loss of confidence – a trauma with social
grace of a tanner’s handshake – and there
many bon gaffes were made easy
