A Few Showers

Would have once said nothing fazes me, not
even the weather, yet that’s worn thin these
last few days; it’s been an extended without
reprieve period of meteorological cretinism
less a weatherman’s reasonable deference

We’re suffering rain that appears from the
East out of nowhere, nothing’s out to sea,
then clouds condense in clear sky, trundle
inland with alacrity – all gaily precipitating
intense showers every hour on the hour

Boredom oxidizes me to a desk where I’m
captive of a regime recognised as insanely
unresolvable, in full disintegration – while
losing the plot faster than one has a right
to decry from a few desultory showers
