Damn Cockatoos

Who are these damn cockatoos thinking
they have rights? There they are shambling
in the everyday treetops of our working lives,
shrieking their inharmonious malcontent in a
raucous commentary with no decent musical
accompaniment. You could be forgiven for
believing it meant they were a flock of native
birds, protected or something, and a delight
to the Audubon Society. Believe me friends,
they’re nothing but a rack of riotous opportunists
out for a free feed, a pissup and a fight. They
ignore the sanctions and rules of the brotherhood
sacred to the working man, believe in nothing
and no-one but themselves and their own
greedy ends, and if they hang around here
looking for a fight they might just get one.
