In The Forest With Ears Tuned

Shouting the rage of the ages
to empty streets is like crashing
garbage bins in an effusive but
useless protest because
no-one is listening.

Who hears the crash of a tree
falling to ground in the empty
forest? Is there even a sound? As
profound as your words might be
you’ve appealed to nobody.

I read what you write for the insight,
for the original view which I may not
attend to anyway; whether you are
right or wrong matters not to me
– alone in the forest with ears tuned.
