Each Others Prisoners

Good grace might explain it –
elegance with rational sense
of propriety, where values
extend beyond self-esteem

You don’t underrate earned
integrity or rely on immunity
as a measure of what must
be seen as true worth

It keeps us safe from artificial
aspirations; welcoming future
contingencies is the same as
having bona fide credentials

Be at peace with confessions
of good faith – we are indeed
each others’ prisoners bonded
for these sentences' duration
