life isn’t like your baking bread;
besides a rash of rare ingredients
which patent recipes have never
weighed there’s truth in saying
that it takes much more to get a
rise than yeast alone supplies, or
guarantees to deem a finer crumb
with faultless crust vitality
in dreams we may opine we wake
to visions of a baked and golden
loaf as perfect harmony – a luxury
evocative of times when bread was
staff of life; inhaled an ancient scent
therein is freshly redolent
