Today it wasn’t ‘here’ and ‘there’,
we’ve worked too hard in either
place to force a choice; it’s where
we are which matters more – the
separates became a single entity
of whom and what, a key that is
harmonious and concrete of its
own discrete accord
I heard it in your voice when you
declared we’d find in either place
a comfort that was shared – not
your consent as I had sought, an
independent voice which echoed
all our secret, yearned thoughts
