an after-breakfast taste
of ‘strine’ garlic made the
thus flavoured idea of
scrambled eggs with basil
and sautéed mushrooms
(‘tho no bacon) just great,
after the event;
tiny sliver of pungency
paid raw affirmation
on a tongue rinsed with
refined coffee and after
the eggs – and though
delivered with hesitancy
it is real praise
savour resplendence of
laudable eggs tethered
on toast stays uncertainty
such that it’s hard to say
whether the clove of an
idea came with the oeufs
or somewhat later

Neat, clever and witty. I like the meta-poem sense in the last few lines.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dick, - like in a post-modern meta-sense maybe?
