not a matter of choice
more prospects of maturity
that is yet to be attained
but they’re future things –
scenes glimpsed or guessed
from mutable presentiment
and yet you’re here and now –
malignant portent supposedly
waiting patiently
right where direst signs lack
authority to make malefic
mayhem out of soured contempt
so you’re biding your time
debating whys and wherefores –
like a prophetic sage
