Acclaim is measured easily,
it’s based on hits to pages
stating you are hot (or not),
and pays a measly pittance
as the graphic proof

The truth of course is miles
away; it is a spoof on what
equates to fame, those ads
all paid to be exposed upon
what is a well read page

Truly couldn’t say they get
their money’s worth, it is a
guessing game & candour’s
out to lunch for free on any
opportunity

My poetry is read for sure
and tho’ I’m not ashamed –
if self-esteem is ever cued
to hits on ads as is reviewed,
t’would be the death of me
