What can you say of a family man?
That he was bigger than the fable,
stronger than its recipe and twice
the flavour? In his place, at least,
declared without fear or favour.
Where fathers’ statuses began, in
formation of belief, in motif making
& legendary deeds – Clarry stood
without prejudice, & geeze did he
make an incredible difference
Maybe it was the red hair, perhaps
the cheek, but love always came
first and there’s the measure of
who has gone; we’ll speak quietly
and with real respect at his wake
