Easier accused of biased hearing
than excused as lack of welcome
news; there is no subterfuge to
hearing loss, play it any way you
want but the nonstop susurration
competes for space dulcet tones
rightly assume they have already
unchallenged as a pride of place
Deeming no response affirmation
a listener disagrees goes beyond
thresholds of the hearing impaired
into tinnitus declarations, where it
may be true – but who’d want to
bear such an inscrutable witness
