Mouthfuls

Pizzas worth waiting for, expressed
in largesse of a three year old who
wouldn’t ordinarily see much crust
in bread she helped knead – baked
with cheese, ham and pineapple in
culinary expertise she’s used to, a
panacea for lesser celebration and
a hand-in for futures assured

She won’t be fazed by glib words
about who is praised or damned –
a few mouthfuls convey of it more
intense than belief, indeed this is
her independence beginning, pray
she will save a slice for you...
