Hockey’s Debt

Joe Hockey

Joe’s in debt to grand delusion’s assonance
there’s rhyme and rhythm in his garrulously
febrile ramblings from the heart, the frank
invective venting slyly stretched perception
of the everyday unleashed to be calamity –
it is so easy listening one forgets his leader
has disgraced himself again, Joe’s on stage
to take the heat and shuffle blame

Hockey is a classic – one who’s clear ability
with words is awe inspiring when he means
to tell the truth, apologies to journalistic air
he uses wise in ways that entertain; where
he wades exceptions are excused as fair or
free while fouls will read the other way
