If sacrificed to ‘its’ magnanimity then
you’re okay, there’s no embarrassing
need to feel demeaned by frailty; and
it wasn’t random chance – your genes
contain a curse the lowlander’s found
intolerable, back in the dark ages they
migrated to seek relief – so clearly it’s
the same mountains’ call still ringing
It reminds you immunity derives from
a pharmacology of belief; its seasonal
allergy they explain, nothing to worry
about – take this, relax, it’ll disappear
as soon as the cold returns – and then
you’ll feel a whole new man
