recovering from horrendous war years
devastating our past makes a martyr of
your conscience; but sweet realisation
death’s a silent consequence, a bonus
of stupidity in free-deal mangled minds
scheming events for real - seeking, say
glory, retribution or plain profit, but isn’t
knew even before declaring ‘an end to
peace’ is saying - ‘we’re slow learners
who’ll fail again’. History devotes most
pages ingloriously to acts of rectitude,
sad commentary on who we really are
