Movin’ On

groovin’ mind and mood to
‘Cherry Bomb’ won't make
me sing though breaking
bones of raucous sleep

my day begins nostalgically
to Mellencamp sung sweet
in simple words he’s said
so well there’s no recoil

morning’s melancholy takes
the strain and says there’s
room to move if you’d just
step away from memories

nothing left to wear as clothes
but past and prospect chic as
gay superfluities out of an old
rucksack – I’m on my way
