In Combination

flavour

You could say in combination apple, mango,
banana and lemon is moderately outrageous
but blended makes lavishness a sense
of perfection’s opaque amalgamation;
flavour fakes immunity from notions of
pre-eminence – persuades compassion
favouring tastes simplified in a glass
beaded with undeniable proclivity

Smooth subtlety soothes tongues used
to rough justice belaying outré opinions
estranged of beer – while after-taste
adheres surreptitiously, a cheerful smile
worn bravely wears scars but the face
grandly breaks into radiance of the sun
