Assuming Gender

Should have expected it, a
refrigerator without cold beer
quails – that is; cowers, cringes,
recoils, shrinks back, blenches,
trembles & even shies away

It has beer now and I’d see a
return to sane and taciturn
deference when the chill placates
taste-deranged atavism; I’d say
evolution has come a long way

I detect ambivalence heretofore
gainsay-free, mayhap a state that
was less akin to anarchy than
a refrigerator’s mistakenly
assumed genderlessness
