Lest We Forget

dawn
There’s been a spate of angry words
exchanged of late – the local RSL is
making waves within its membership;
ardent history’s at stake it’s claimed,
spurs and whips are drawn, chancred
egos raked. It is no simple argument
which lead to this impasse nor can a
lasting truce ensue ‘til dawn parade.

Citizens now face a legacy of trust,
that monumental task embraced by
those of us returned – keepers of a
faith with memories that burn until
the last who served returns to dust
and rests at ease. Lest We Forget.
