I know I’d rather be than not, although
afflictions strange of thought beset me
as imaginings of what I am despaired
in loosened gaps between a princeling
weighed of civic debt and praise quite
publicly replete as streetwise accolade;
I’d have to hang my head in shame for
what is anxious need’s deceit
A fairer cost for dues I vaguely earned
and do regret proclaims inequity; I am
well paid in doubts accrued. No claim
exists to sanction this nil wages row –
to be or not to be remains espoused
a debt to chary Hell’s domain
