
while there’s no chance it still
can’t mean it won’t ever happen –
that’s like promising the moon
but sure, with no undercurrents
of malice evident there’s nothing
apparent to sully good will
so where does the belief it might
abide – and why; siblings do not
conceal belated grievances easily
annulling a privilege of kin would
be grievously sure to make waves
but it won’t change the facts
simply, you can’t gratuitously stop
being a sibling on a whim and make
those sorts of things go away
