Gnostic Sentence

gnostic

Whatever bliss came with dawn
stumbled in the sour light of day;
acid burns endure where softer
feelings took refuge an age ago,
now emptiness pervades space
like a caged animal unleashed –
nothing endures its primal fear,
reason flees that insane beast

Try listening, hear sounds other
than Gnostic sentence of death –
voices out of the wilderness you
were lost in did not deceive ‘tho
you might have misheard whom
you thought had screamed
