Reflections

we may well disagree on origins
of alienation – and there are more
vagaries in fact than firm bases
for resolute stand; altercations
like that are crap whichever way
one takes offense, but a point not
seen meant less austere defence
gave in to antithetical attack

denial of sleep is not the foe nor
retributive genius; we all need
reflections of ourselves as much
as relief from one another’s raw
intensity – the enemy isn’t in
rogue similes but empty sheets
